In the Archives of the Indies and form other sources the authoo found 640 letters written by Spaniards who settled in America primarily in New Spain and Peru. These were written to families who had stayed in the Old World. The letters cover a multitude of topics and genealogy researchers may find some ancestors, although, because there were huindres of thousand of immigrants due in the period noted, the chance is remote.
