Description
Judge Ed Butler swerved as President General of the Ntional Society of the Sons of the American Revolution in 2009-2010. At a private audience with then Crown Prince Felipe of Spain, the current king of Spain asked Judge Butler to write a book about Spain’s assistance to the American Revolution. This book is the result of that command performance. Spain’s assistance to the American Revolution is downplayed or rarely mentioned in popular works, but it is doubtful, as this book will tell, that without Spain the American Revolution might have never succeeded.
Bernardo de Galvez was Governor of Louisiana during the Revolution and even before his tenure SpainĀ channeled money and supplies to Washington’s troops. Ranchers in Texas, in what were the first American cattle trail drives, supplied beef to Governor Galvez and American troops. In essence, Galvez was in charge of the southern front in the Revolution and he never lost a battle to the British on the Missisippi and the Gulf of Mexico.
